Prince William’s hilarious prank at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding
Prince William's prank poked fun at his brother Prince Harry's recent fall from a ladder while changing a lightbulb.
Prince William played an hilarious prank on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their wedding day, which nearly left some guests “floored”. Prince William did not meet up with his younger brother Harry while he was in the UK this week to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. While the two brothers have been estranged for years now, it was not always this way. In fact, nearly six years ago to the day, William was comfortable enough to carry out a mischievous prank to poke fun at his brother at his wedding. According to royal insiders, the then-Duke of Cambridge’s joke stunt happened at Harry and Meghan’s star-studded “wild” wedding after-party. Meghan and Harry were married on May 19, 2018 in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
However, William’s prank at the Sussexes’ wedding reception nearly went dangerously wrong, according to witnesses. Harry’s brother and best man “nearly floored” several celebrity partygoers in the process. The risky prank took place around midnight when Harry and Meghan left the star-studded party at Windsor’s Frogmore House. Hours earlier, King Charles delivered a hilarious speech, where he made jokes about changing Harry’s nappy, with a guest telling MailOnline: “That’s about as embarrassing as it got.”
William used the moment to poke fun at a recent fall Harry had from a ladder while changing a lightbulb. The 41-year-old tied a ladder to the back of the newlyweds’ car. However, he almost “floored” a few of the guests in the process. A royal insider said: “Harry and Meghan went about midnight, shattered and madly in love. Apparently, Harry fell off a ladder recently while changing a light bulb for Meghan and hurt his arm. So Wills tied a ladder to the back of the car, which nearly floored a few people.” William and Kate only left Windsor Castle the following day at noon as they drove back to Kensington Palace.
Guests at the reception included David and Victoria Beckham, tennis star Serena Williams, James Corden, Idris Elba, and George and Amal Clooney. The reception was a highly exclusive event, with only 200 of the newlyweds’ closest friends and family invited. Harry is said to have requested a Tiki-themed bar for the party. Guests were treated to a sit-down dinner, paid for by King Charles, which ran from 7.30pm until 10pm.
The party-goers enjoyed ‘dirty burgers’ and drinks-of-the-world themed cocktails – including one named ‘When Harry Met Meghan’, a play on the hit romantic comedy film ‘When Harry Met Sally’.
Meghan and Harry had a first dance to the Whitney Houston hit, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’. The reception featured a DJ slot from actor Idris Elba, as guests danced to 1980s dance hits and R&B tunes.
