Incredible reason Prince Harry snubbed royal residence stay during UK visit

Prince Harry was in the UK for three nights earlier this month.

 

Prince Harry reportedly decided to stay in a hotel instead of a royal residence over security concerns. According to The Telegraph, the Duke of Sussex turned down an invitation from his father to stop at a royal residence as he visited the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Harry is said to have spent three nights in London having flown to the UK from his Montecito home in California.

Reports say Harry is said to have made attempts to meet with his father, only to later issue a statement saying his father was too busy to meet him. According to The Telegraph, had Harry stopped in a royal residence then it could have provided a chance to spend time together outside of their jam-packed schedules. The publication however claims Harry turned down the offer because it did not come with security, meaning he would have been staying in a visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection.

Although royal residences are some of the best protected in the country, it is believed Harry’s concern was the level of security he would get. The Duke is said to remain upset about the decision to remove thheir seurity personnel. Harry had applied for a judicial review at the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) declared in February 2020 that he and his family were no longer entitled to the “same degree” of personal security when visiting Britai

He told the High Court he felt “forced” to step back from royal duties and leave the UK. He said the Home Office subjected him to “unlawful and unfair treatment” He said the decision to remove security proection was “some form of punishment for protecting my family and putting them first”. Harry offered to pay for his own security but was told the Metropolitan Police was not for hire. He lost the legal challenge in February, leaving him with an estimated legal bill of more than £1million.

Harry is now required to give 28 days’ notice of his visits to the UK, including all details of his travel arrangements, to allow the committee to assess his security requirements. He was given a police escourt when he returned to the UK and travelled from Heathrow to Clarence House after the King was diagnosed with cancer. He had no protection when leaving Clarence House.

It led Harry to think he could not bring his wife or children to the UK as he cannot guarantee their safety.
