Prince Harry’s one major ‘regret’ over leaving UK unveiled by expert
Prince Harry was once a major part of a royal event that has just passed in the calendar - something he truly misses, according to an expert.
Prince Harry has been living in the US for four years – but he has one pull over leaving behind his life in the UK, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. The Duke of Sussex made the decision to step down as a working royal in January 2020, and eventually moved to the US later that year.
Real reason Prince Harry and Meghan left the UK – and it had nothing to do with the royals
Despite being optimistic about his life in the US, Mr Fitzwilliams has said that Harry holds regret over missing major events such as Trooping the Colour – especially with his military past. Speaking to The Sun, the expert said that Harry feels contrite about his UK exit – with Meghan Markle not sharing the same feelings as her husband. The expert said: “The military has been a very important part of [Harry’s] life, and I would have thought [it’s] only natural he would have had a feeling of some regret [not being at Trooping the Colour].”
Prince Harry goes viral with scathing two-word remark about Queen Camilla
Discussing Harry’s wife, who officially joined the Royal Family in 2018, Mr Fitzwilliams said: “I think Meghan would be indifferent to a ceremony like Trooping the Colour… I don’t think it would mean a great deal to her. “If it had done, she would have managed to carve a position within the Royal Family where she could have been of use.” Mr Fitzwilliam’s comments come after Meghan and Harry were snubbed from the major annual event for the second year in a row.
How Prince Harry ‘takes on Princess Diana’s matle to become locked in battle with Royals’
The pair last attended the event in June 2019, the year before they stepped down as working royals and moved to the US. The 2019 event also marked the last time that Meghan and Harry appeared on the Buckingham Palace balony for the RAF Flypast. The Princess of Wales made her royal return at this year’s event on June 15 – her first public appearance of the year. The mother-of-three also made her first appearance alongside her children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 – who had also not been pictured since December 2023.

In March, Princess Kate revealed that she was undergoing treatment following a shock cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Just weeks before Kate revealed that she had been diagnosed, King Charles had revealed his own diagnosis. Meghan and Harry now reside in California with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
The Duke has made numerous visits to the UK in the past four years, whereas Meghan has not visited since 2022. Harry’s last visit to the UK took place in May, a visit which marked the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London. Meghan made the decision to not travel to the UK with her husband, with the mother-of-two remaining in the US with Archie and Lilibet.
