Meghan Markle desperate for Prince Harry to ‘leave past behind’ with two-word wish

Meghan Markle is reportedly encouraging Prince Harry to "leave the past behind and move on", an expert has claimed.

Meghan Markle desperately wishes Prince Harry would “leave the past behind”, it has been claimed. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, is reportedly encouraging Harry to “move on” from the past and look forward to the future. Praising the mother of two, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said that she believes Meghan’s potential outlook is “healthy”.

Speaking to OK! about the couple, Ms Bond said: “If Meghan is encouraging Harry to leave the past behind and move on, then I think it is a healthy move. “They have made their decision, left the working Royal Family and left the UK. Brooding on the perceived injustices of the past and re-living old quarrels is a waste of a life, and I think Meghan sees that.” Shortly after announcing their decision to step down in early 2020, Meghan and Harry moved to begin a new life in America with Prince Archie. The couple welcomed Princess Lilibet – now aged three – in the US in June 2021.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the time of Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down, a royal insider said: “This is what Meghan and Harry have always wanted – to create their own life. “It’s got to feel like an immense relief to get out of the UK and go down their own path.” Speaking of Harry’s memoir Spare, Ms Bond said that it appears Harry misses his life back in the UK – and is something he likely wants to “repair the damage”.

She said: “In his book Spare he writes about his fond memories of some of those family gatherings, and it’s only natural that he now misses that connection and perhaps is still considering ways of repairing the damage done in recent years.”

Despite this, and speaking of Meghan, Ms Bond said that the former actress likely believes that their time within the Royal Family is now “firmly” in the past.

According to The Times, one of Harry’s “oldest friends” – who is said to get “the odd WhatsApp from him” – said: ‘He’s an angry boy. Things haven’t turned out how he wanted. “I think he misses being over here [in Britain] desperately and wants to be admired more.”
