According to Page Six, the king reportedly revealed that he has lost his sense of taste while being treated for cancer, with British tabloids the Daily Mail and UK Sun reporting the revelation was made during a Monday (May 13) visit to the Army Flying Museum in Hampshire with his son and heir Prince William.

The monarch reportedly told Aaron Mappleback, a veteran of the British Army, that he experienced a “loss of taste” during his treatment after Mappleback revealed that he had lost his taste while undergoing chemotherapy for testicular cancer. It is unclear whether the loss is temporary. Buckingham Palace has not publicly confirmed or denied the report, per Page Six.

The Palace announced in February that the king had been diagnosed with cancer following a separate “corrective procedure” to treat benign prostate enlargement, though they didn’t specify what form or stage the cancer was discovered.

The British monarch’s health battle coincides with another of the royal family as Kate Middleton revealed in March that she was also undergoing cancer treatment following a major abdominal surgery in January. After her announcement, King Charles said via Buckingham Palace that he was “so proud” of his daughter-in-law for “her courage in speaking as she did.”
