King Charles’s ‘terrible mistake’ in Archie and Lilibet title row ‘undermined’ monarchy

King Charles has been accused of making a “terrible mistake” by bestowing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children with Royal titles.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that their children, Archie and Lilibet, would be known as a prince and princess following the christening of their daughter in California. This move put an end to rampant speculation about whether the young royals, who are sixth and seventh in line to the throne, would adopt their hereditary titles. Tom Bower, the author behind the explosive book ‘Revenge: Megan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors’, has blasted King Charles for his decision. He claimed it could lead to future embarrassment for the monarchy.
Royal enthusiasts were taken aback by the revelation, especially since Harry and Meghan had previously stepped away from their Royal roles. Speaking to Express US, the esteemed Royal author expressed his disapproval of the King’s descision. He said: “Harry and Meghan have undermined the monarchy and Charles has made a terrible mistake. He should have cut them off straight away. He should never have allowed their children to be made a prince and princess.”
Furthermore, Mr Bower argues that Prince Harry “shouldn’t have been invited” to the upcoming coronation and suggests that the monarchy ought to have severed ties with the Sussexes entirely following their relocation to Montecito, California, reports the Mirror. The relationship between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the rest of the Royal Family took a nosedive following their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. The Duchess of Sussex made shocking allegations of racism within the family.
The release of Prince Harry’s revealing memoir ‘Spare’ earlier this year further strained his relationship with his elder brother, Prince William. The younger Royal alleged that he had been physically attacked by his brother, an accusation which William has yet to publicly address. Polls indicate that the popularity of Harry and Meghan is on a downward spiral on both sides of the Atlantic. Their Netflix series released in 2022 brought forth even more sensational claims. However, it appears that the Duke and Duchess’ partnership with Netflix is far from over, paving the way for more documentaries and revelations about life within the Royal Family.
Despite speculation that their deal is on shaky ground, Netflix has refuted these rumours, affirming their strong ties with the couple.
