Why Meghan Markle fails to compete with Princess Kate as survey reveals very telling results
The Sussex brand has received yet another blow after two recent polls showed the current state of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's popularity in the US.
Meghan Markle is “still less popular” than the Princess of Wales in her own country as the Sussex brand receives yet another blow following Prince Harry’s acceptance of the Pat Tillman Award for Service, a recent poll has shown.
The Duchess of Sussex has seen her popularity plunge in the US and the UK ever since she and husband Prince Harry quit their royal duties and moved to America in 2020. But even though her brand, American Riviera Orchard’s soft launch in March helped boost her favourability with the American public slightly, it still stays far behind that of other British royals like the Prince and Princess of Wales and even her husband.

Overall, Prince William and Princess Kate are viewed more favourably than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. A poll of 1,500 US eligible voters conducted by Redfield and Wilton for Newsweek back in May found that Meghan was liked by just 36 percent of adults and disliked by 24 percent. This marked a sharp increase compared to February when she was viewed favourably by just 31 percent and unfavourably by 30 percent.
At the same time, Princess Kate emerged as America’s favourite royal once again as she was viewed positively by 45 percent and negatively by 13 percent of US adults. Prince William was liked by 40 percent and disliked by 12 percent, whereas Prince Harry was viewed favorably by 42 precent and unfavorably by 18. It comes as the brand Sussex received yet another blow after Prince Harry controversially accepted the prestigious Pat Tillman award for service last week at a glitzy ceremony in the US.
Harry was recognised for founding the Invictus Games a decade ago to support injured and sick servicemen and women – both on active duty and veterans – who are navigating physical and invisible injuries.

The duke’s nomination was shrouded in dramatic backlash, with a petition, counting just below 77,000, being set up urging the awards organisers to rethink their decision and Mary Tillman, Pat Tillman’s mother, saying she was was “shocked” at Harry’s nomination when there “are recipients that are far more fitting”.
Another Redfield & Wilton poll published last week revealed that nearly four in ten (38 percent) Americans thought Harry was wrong to receive the award, while just 21 percent agreed with it.
